How We Predict Adult Weight
Our puppy and kitten adult weight estimator uses breed-specific growth curves validated by veterinarians. For dogs, we categorize breeds into Small (β€10kg adult), Medium (11-25kg), Large (26-45kg), and Giant (>45kg). Each size class has a distinct growth pattern: small breeds reach 75% of adult weight by 6 months, while giant breeds only reach 50% by 6 months. For cats, most breeds follow a similar curve: 75% by 6 months, 90% by 9 months, full adult by 12-15 months.
The prediction uses the formula: Estimated Adult Weight = Current Weight / Maturity Percentage (at current age). We then provide a Β±15% range for individual variation. Breed standard ranges are from official kennel clubs.
